I just wanted to introduce ourselves as I'm sure I've never met anyone that is/will be on here, lol.
My name is Alicia. My friend and I run a small breeding program for standard working longhaired dachshunds. We had started in earthdog a few years ago and have gone hunting with two of our dachshunds, but made the decision last year to focus on conformation showing as we have limited time available for competing in anything (I guess that's the hazard of having a couple of retail jobs, not many weekends off!).
There are quite a few different types of sporting work that we'd like to try with the dogs, so hopefully I'll learn a lot from all of you!

I wouldn't be so sure about not knowing anyone, if you're showing in southern ontario you may have run across my duaghter and my curly coated retriever (Gershwin). I'm usually not to far away. We'll be in Dorchester for the Monarch show. It has been sad life is to short to hunt with an ugly dog. That's why my hunting dog is Multi-Reserve Best in Show UKC/ CKC Ch. Walden Farm's Raspedy in Blue WC, RN ( aka. Gershwin) If you see the curly stop and say hi.

There is a lady that has long haired terriers in milbrook ont that is trying to start a club for blood trailing dogs to help hunters retrieve wounded game her name is loral winslow smith. there was just a posting on the EBR about this and MNR wants to make it legal for you to use dogs ( on a leash ) to follow a blood trail on wounded game for recovery reasons that was brought up at a meeting we had in Queens park with the ministers sec/ a month ago

Glad to hear the MNR is thinking of allowing the use of dogs to find downed game.

We don't show with CKC anymore, we quit after a couple of shows because neither myself or my dogs were enjoying it. There was a lot of people entering a bunch of their own dogs into the classes to stack them, rude people and we never really had fun at them. We show with a smaller group now and love it, although we still don't get out as much as we would like (only a few shows per year because of my work schedule). If I ever see you, I'll say hi!

You ever try a UKC show? We show our Catahoulas with them, and I've always found it enjoyable. I've heard it's much less tense than CKC

We show with a smaller group now and find it really enjoyable, it's just actually having the time to get out to shows now.
And now of course Fynn has done something to his leg, we're suspecting ACL tear but he goes to the vet next week (the soonest we could get him in), so it looks like we might be out most of this year now too.
